The Basingstoke canal was dug at the time when the railways were taking off so it never really made any money for its investors. These photos were taken along a stretch of the canal near a pub called the Barley Mow in Wynchfield north Hampshire. Further along, near the village of Greywell the canal runs through a tunnel but the roof of the canal collapsed years ago and was never repaired. This means that the canal no longer runs all the way to Basingstoke.
